How Yinoko works

  1. Sign up: your name, your level, and a coached program.
  2. The coach asks your goal, your days and your gym, then builds your week.
  3. It sets a food target: calories and protein from your goal.
  4. You start a Circle: a few friends, one goal, six weeks.
  5. Every week you train and every session is ticked off, you photograph meals to log them, and your Circle sees who trained.
  6. Every Monday the coach goes through last week with you.
  7. Week after week, the kept weeks add up and the numbers move.

Features

Coach, plan, Circle, food

The coach

You don’t have to know how to train

  1. Written for you

Tell it your goal, your days and where you train. It writes the week: exercises, sets, reps and starting weights.

  2. The next weight, every time

After each session it works out what to lift next: one more rep, or more weight once you’ve earned it.

  3. Works around what hurts

Mention a sore knee and the coach swaps what loads it, then checks back weeks later.

The plan

Your whole week, on a calendar

  1. Yours or the coach’s

Write your own program, or take the coach’s and change it. Lifting, circuits, runs and sport in the same week.

  2. Built on your gym

Tick your gym’s kit from a few photos. Every exercise in the plan uses what’s there, at home too.

  3. A bad week isn’t a lost one

Move a session to a day you can make and the week still counts. Time off is paused, not missed.

Consistency

People expecting you

  1. A goal with friends

Up to eight people, one goal, a set number of weeks. Everyone sees who trained and who missed.

  2. Weeks, not days

A week counts when every planned session is done. Count them in a row and beat your best.

  3. Train together

Run a circuit with friends on one clock, each on your own phone. It counts on everyone’s week.

Food

Your health, not just your training

  1. Eat for your goal

Calories and protein worked out from your body, your training and the pace you choose.

  2. Logged from a photo

Photograph the plate or the label, or say what you ate. Calories, protein, carbs and fat follow.

  3. One coach for both

Your eating and weight sit next to your training, so Monday’s check-in covers the whole week.

In their words

“Knowing someone will ask me about it on Sunday is the whole reason I go.”

Julie

“I had a bad week and nobody wrote me off. They just asked how the next one was going.”

Xavier

“It's the first time training hasn't felt like something I do alone.”

Sarah

Why we built it

“We become builders by building.”

Aristotle, Nicomachean Ethics

You don't become stronger by intending to. You become stronger by showing up next week, and the week after. So we built a coach that plans your weeks, follows them and covers what you eat. Then we put people around you who are doing the same.

Questions

A personal trainer in an app. It writes your program, runs each session with timers and logging, tells you what to lift next, sets your calories and protein, and checks in every Monday. Around it, a Circle of friends who see whether you trained.

It can build one with you, or you can bring a plan you already trust. Either way it stays yours to change, and the coach adjusts it as your weeks actually go.

You and a few others pick a goal and a number of weeks. Each week the Circle gets one score: how much of what everyone planned got done. No feed. No leaderboard. People who notice.

No. Miss Tuesday, move it to Thursday, and the week still counts. What counts is weeks where you did what you planned.

Garmin is planned, so the time you train lands in the app without you logging it by hand. That is all we want from it. Heart rate, pace, GPS and the rest are measured beautifully elsewhere, and none of it answers the question that counts: did you show up, and did you put the time in? That is what we keep.

No. A home setup works, bodyweight only included. The plan uses the kit you have and the days you can train.

When it is ready. iOS first, with Android following. Beta places are limited and go to people on the waitlist.

The beta is free for now. We're keeping it small so we can learn from the people using it. Unlike most apps, the coach costs us something every time it answers, so we're growing slowly. We'll charge for the app after the beta, but we haven't figured out the price.
